Frequently Asked Questions

(Natural menopause support through nervous system balance and circadian rhythm reset)

About Soma & Our Approach

What are functional teas, and how is Soma different from other menopause blends?

Soma’s teas are functional botanical blends designed to help your body recalibrate through
midlife — gently and naturally.

Most menopause blends target hormones directly using phytoestrogens (plant estrogens)
such as red clover or black cohosh. Soma does not. We take a nervous-system-led
approach, supporting your body’s natural regulators — cortisol, melatonin, and circadian
rhythm — rather than trying to replace hormones.

This means:

  • No potent hormone mimics
  • No stimulants or sedatives
  • No immune-triggering herbs

Just botanically soft, scientifically strong blends that steady your system and restore
your rhythm.

Why focus on the nervous system instead of hormones?

Many midlife symptoms — anxiety, insomnia, brain fog, irritability — are driven by cortisol
dysregulation, not only falling estrogen.

When the body’s stress response is overactivated, it can’t maintain hormonal harmony. By
supporting the nervous system (your body’s regulator), you create the conditions for
hormones to naturally rebalance.

Soma supports calm and clarity first — because a regulated nervous system is the foundation
of balanced hormones.

Why does Soma include somatic prompts and nervous system rituals?

Because nourishment without nervous system regulation is only half the picture.
Our teas work best when paired with external cues — slow breathing, mindful sipping, soft
lighting, early digital cut-off.

If you’re drinking calming botanicals but staying up late doom-scrolling, no plant medicine
can override that stress signal.

By combining internal nourishment (botanicals) with external micro-habits (somatic
regulation), you amplify the effect — helping your body actually absorb the calm you’re
cultivating.

How do the Day and Night teas work together?

Think of them as bookends for your day — a circadian rhythm reset in two cups.

  • Vitalitea (Daylight Ritual) — gently energises without caffeine, supporting focus
and steady mood with Gotu Kola, Tulsi, and Siberian Ginseng.
  • Serenitea (Moonlight Ritual) — helps unwind the mind and prepare for deep,
restorative sleep with Passionflower, Lemon Balm, and Sacred Lotus.

Together, they re-train your body to know when to rise and when to rest — a rhythm
many women lose in midlife.

Usage & Experience

How do I take the tea?

Start with one level teaspoon per cup for a gentle flavour and mild symptom support.
If your symptoms are moderate or you prefer a stronger flavour, use 1½ teaspoons.
For more intense symptoms or deeper relaxation, use 2 teaspoons.

Steep in freshly boiled water for 3–5 minutes for a lighter brew or up to 10–12 minutes for a
stronger effect.

Avoid steeping beyond 12 minutes, as the botanicals may become bitter.
Each cylinder contains approximately 30 serves, depending on your teaspoon size and
preferred strength.

Do I drink it hot or cold?

It’s completely up to you — enjoy it however you like.

In cooler months, most women prefer it warm as part of a cosy ritual. In summer, it’s equally
delicious poured over ice for a refreshing drink.

You can also infuse it with fresh seasonal fruits — blueberries and raspberries pair
beautifully with Serenitea, while slices of citrus complement Vitalitea.

The ritual is yours to make your own.

Why does your evening tea brew such a deep twilight colour?

We intentionally crafted Serenitea to steep into a deep twilight hue — a sensory cue for your
body to slow down.

When you add a squeeze of citrus, it transforms into a vivid magenta, a visual signal to your
nervous system that it’s time to shift gears and release the day.

This colour change isn’t just beautiful — it’s a mindful anchor, a reminder to breathe, sip
slowly, and let your body soften into evening.

What colour does Vitalitea brew to?

Vitalitea brews to a sunshiny golden-yellow — a colour chosen to represent clarity, focus,
and the warmth of vitality.

It’s your “clarity-in-a-cup” moment: brightening your morning, steadying your emotions,
and keeping your mind clear throughout the day.

When should I drink them?

  • Vitalitea — in the morning or early afternoon to support calm energy and mental
    clarity.
  • Serenitea — 30–60 minutes before bed, or anytime you feel overstimulated.
You can enjoy them separately, but using both consistently offers the best results by
    re-establishing your body’s natural rhythm.

How long before I feel results?

Some women notice calmer moods or improved sleep within a few days; others take a week
or two as their system adjusts.

Soma is not a quick fix — it’s a gradual recalibration that builds over time.

Consistency is key. Morning and night, cup by cup, you’re reminding your body how to regulate again. Think of it as a daily investment that compounds.

What if I don’t feel a difference?

Every woman’s body responds differently depending on stress levels, diet, and lifestyle.
If you’ve used both teas daily for at least 21 days, following our nervous system prompts and
haven’t noticed even a subtle shift in calm, clarity, or sleep — we’ll offer you a store credit
or a complimentary tea-ritual consultation to help tailor your experience.

We’re here to help you find what works — not to sell you something that doesn’t.

Ingredients & Safety

Can I take Soma teas with supplements or adaptogens?

Yes — many customers safely pair Soma with magnesium, vitamin D + K, and omega-3s,
which are often beneficial in midlife.

In fact, combining Serenitea with magnesium and L-theanine has been shown to enhance
relaxation and improve sleep continuity.

If you already take strong adaptogens such as Ashwagandha or Ginseng in capsule form,
monitor how you feel and reduce overlap to avoid overstimulation.

Medical disclaimer: Always consult your healthcare practitioner before introducing new
herbal products if you have a chronic health condition, take prescription medication, or are
undergoing hormone therapy.

Are Soma teas safe with HRT or other medications?

Yes. Soma teas are non-hormonal and carefully formulated to be compatible with most
midlife health plans.

We have purposely excluded St John’s Wort, as many women are on SSRIs; no Black
Cohosh, as it’s not advised for those with thyroid dysfunction; and no Red Clover or Maca
as these are potent phytoestrogens.

However, if you’re under medical care, it is always wise to check with your practitioner
before introducing any new supplement, botanical, or otherwise.

Do Soma teas contain caffeine or sedatives?

No. Both blends are caffeine-free, non-sedating, and non-addictive.

You’ll feel gently alert in the morning and peacefully calm at night — without the highs and
crashes of stimulants or sleep aids.

What symptoms can Soma help with?

Soma supports the body’s natural regulation processes and may help with:

  • Emotional swings, anxiety, and overwhelm
  • Restless sleep and early waking
  • Brain fog and loss of focus
  • Afternoon fatigue without caffeine
  • Feelings of depletion or burnout

It’s not a “cure” for menopause — it’s a ritual that helps your body self-correct
through calm consistency.

What do the teas taste like?

  • Vitalitea — bright citrus-botanical notes with hints of spearmint. It brews to a
beautiful sunshiny yellow — a symbol of vitality, clarity, and emotional steadiness.
  • Serenitea — soft, velvet-floral depth with Passionflower, Chamomile, and Sacred
    Lotus.

Both taste naturally comforting and brew beautifully with a touch of honey or a
squeeze of lemon, depending on your preference.

Product Quality & Storage

How long will one cylinder last?

Approximately 30 serves, lasting three to four weeks with regular use of both teas —
depending on how strong you brew and how much you use per cup.

What’s the shelf life and how should I store them?

Keep your teas sealed airtight, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Stored properly,
they’ll remain fresh for up to 18 months.

Where do you source your ingredients?

We work with a certified-organic Australian supplier who sources botanicals from ethical global growers.

All hand-blending and packaging are completed locally on the Gold Coast, Australia
ensuring premium quality and freshness.
